Homework

That homework sounded like it would be easy.

But here are my experiences so far:

Wednesday. I was at the karate school with my son, when I realized I hadn't done my homework. So I thought I would try it there. I wasn't taking a class, so I could just sit still on the sidelines for 15-30 minutes, right?! Wrong! First I started thinking about which parts of my body would be allowed to move. I had to breathe, right? So the midsection and chest would be okay to move. Now what about my eyes? Should I close them? Or would it be okay to blink? Do I have to stare at one point, or can I actually move my eyes, too. I figured since I was in a public place it would be better to have eyes open and not look like I was sleeping. ... OK. This is easy Right? ... Wrong! I move, then look at my watch. It's been maybe 4 or 5 minutes. OK try again. OOPS moved my foot... OOPS had an itch... OOPS maybe I should try with my eyes closed. OOPS, what was that, I had to open my eyes and see what was going on. So class was over and I didn't sit still for more than 5 minutes at a time.

Thursday. I'm supposed to find a comfortable place at home and try this at the same time every day. How about the recliner? Get comfortable. Close eyes. I checked the clock 5 minutes later, but then got back on track. 40 minutes later, I check the time. I know I was still for at least 40 minutes, the only problem is I fell asleep. I don't think that was supposed to happen.

Friday. I return to the recliner at the same time as yesterday. This time I need to sit still AND stay awake. I almost nod off, but the timer alerts me. It's a good idea to set a timer, so I don't have to peek at the clock, AND I cant really fall asleep. Mission accomplished.

Also, I did think of things to be grateful for every morning.
